@ the Luna County State Fair, groups of ranchers gather for the real rodeo competition.
This one is called Heifer milking. Why? Out on the range when a heifer has her first calf, many times she wont claim the calf. She is scared and runs off and the calf dies. So the ranchers rope the new mother, pin her down and milk her for the much needed colostrum to feed the calf. They will pen up the calf with the mother until she claims the calf.

Over the years, John has been accepted into art competitions in Indiana , Florida and New Mexico, receiving numerous awards and publications.
